Location of ICG-3 at Research Centre Jülich

How to reach us


ICG-3 (Phytosphere Institute, Building 06.2) is situated in the north east of the campus at the Northern Ring crossing N4. It can be easily recognized by the greenhouse in front (Building 06.3).


If you arrive by car:

  • Follow the road from the main entrance for approx. 400 m.
  • At the crossing, turn left onto the Helmholtz Ring signposted in blue (immediately in front of the lake).
  • After approx. 150 m, turn right onto the Helmholtz Ring.
  • After the sharp turn to the right, turn left onto the Northern Ring signposted in green. Follow this road for about 200 m.
  • After another sharp turn to the right, turn left (crossing N4). The Institute is now in front of you on the right. There are parking spaces in front of and behind the building.

    If you arrive by train: You can reach the Research Centre by train from Cologne within about one hour, changing trains at Düren, where you take the "Dürener Kreisbahn" going to Jülich or Linnich and get off at the 'Forschungszentrum' stop, which is about 1.5 km south of the main entrance. Since there is no regular feeder service from there to the Research Centre, you should arrange to be collected at the train stop.

    If you arrive by plane: Köln-Bonn and Düsseldorf airports are situated about one hour by car from the Research Centre. It is advisable to rent a car at the airport or arrange to be collected.

    Pass: Visitors to the Research Centre and its institutes are requested to register at the main entrance by presenting their identity card / passport and naming the person to be visited (please use the visitors parking lot).
