JPPC - the Jülich Plant Phenotyping Centre
Plant Phenotyping: Concepts and Technologies
JPPC develops novel concepts and technologies and applies them at a large scale in order to collect and analyse quantitative data on plant structure and function.
Genetically diverse plants are exposed to constant as well as to controlled heterogeneity or to naturally varying environments.
Genetic diversity and Environment
The diversity in the plants investigated originates from natural diversity, commercial lines or specifically designed genetic material.
This challenging task requires the integration of knowledge and expertise from geneticists, molecular biologists, microbiologists, physiologists and agronomists to address and solve the relevant biological questions. In addition, physicists, statisticians, bioinformatics, image analysis scientists and engineers are needed to adapt existing technologies and to develop novel tools to quantify plant dynamics and the environmental factors with which they interact.
