The ecoNMR group dedicates its activities to the investigation of structure and dynamical processes in plants and soils using nuclear magnetic resonance methods. To this end, the Green-NMR-House provides NMR spectrometers which are optimized for this purpose with respect to geometry and surrounding equipment such as crane and climate chamber. Therefore, ecoNMR utilizes large stationary superconducting magnets, but also develops smaller portable systems made from permanent magnets. They allow non-invasive investigations of plants in the field however with reduced sensitivity (see VIP-NMR).
