JPPC - the Jülich Plant Phenotyping Centre
Aims of Plant Phenotyping
One scientific aim is to understand the interactions between the genome and the environment, which determine plant performance on both quality and quantity.
A second goal is the broad and unbiased analysis of a large number of diverse plant species and genetic material for novel plant-based substances and materials.
Plant phenotyping and Integration
Systems biology as well as classical biological concepts and applications will be enriched by the knowledge gained. This knowledge will be integrated into quantitative and dynamic modelling and will be used to design novel plants that will
- answer the needs for a sustainable agriculture and
- provide new products at competitive costs.
