ICG-2: Plant Sciences
Research Area Transport Dynamics

Tasks
The Transport group investigates the processes of uptake, distribution and delivery of water and solutes by higher plants in order to gain an in-depth understanding of the underlying mechanisms by which their environment and genetic makeup determine their behaviour.
We expect this knowledge to be a basis for modifying transport pathways and driving forces, in order to improve the water and nutrient use efficiency and thereby the bioproduction of crops.
Data from non- and minimal-invasive investigations of intact plants are combined with results from the investigation of transport processes on the cellular and subcellular level with sophisticated technological approaches.
