Understanding the performance of large-scale parallel applications will depend increasingly on bridging the gap between what performance can be measured and how the performance data is interpreted and related to the application semantics. In this talk, we will explore current research directions in measurement-based performance mapping, model-based performance diagnosis, and performance data mining. We hope to weave a common thread among these topics of application-specific performance analysis.
