- PeTrack - Automatic Extraction of Pedestrian
Trajectories from Video Recordings
For acquisition of reliable empirical data of pedestrian dynamic we are developing the software named PeTrack to automatically extract accurate pedestrian trajectories from video recordings. The free software gives the opportunity to analyze extensive experimental series with a large number of persons, also at high densities.

(more...) - Hermes Project
The aim of the Hermes project is the development of an evacuation assistant to support security services in case of emergency in complex buildings and thus to improve safety at mass events. One main task is to build a model for pedestrian dynamics especially designed for real-time forecasting of the emergency egress of large crowds on parallel computers.

As basic investigations we measured the fundamental diagram for the movement along a line experimentally. The data were used to analyse which modelling approaches for the local interaction between pedestrians offer a reproduction of the empirical data.
