Fortran 90 has introduced new extensions and features to the older Fortran 77 language definition. These language extensions bring Fortran up to date with other languages like C (dynamic memory allocation, scoping rules) and C++ (generic function interfaces). As a unique and quite popular feature, Fortran 90 supports array operations.
