Plus

Uniform Interface to Computing Resources

The goal of UNICORE Plus was to develop a grid infrastructure together with a computing portal for engineers and scientists to access supercomputer centers from anywhere on the Internet. This had to be done with strong authentication in a uniform and easy to use way. The differences between platforms was hidden from the user thus creating a seamless interface for accessing supercomputers, compiling and running applications, and transferring input/output data. Research areas in UNICORE Plus was resource modeling, application specific interfaces, data management, job control flow, and metacomputing.

Following partners worked together at this project.

item Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany
item DWD- Deutscher Wetterdienst, Offenbach
item RUS - Rechenzentrum der Universität Stuttgart
item Pallas GmbH, Brühl

The project was funded in part by the BMBF. It started 01.01.2000 and
with the support of further collaborators the project has been successfully completed 31.12.2002.
