In September 2005 six Community Grid Projects and the D-Grid Integration Project (DGI) started to build a sustainable Grid infrastructure in Germany, to establish methods of e-science in the German scientific community.

The Linux-Cluster JuGGLE (Juelich German Grid Linux Environment) is available for the D-Grid Initiative and part of the Core D-Grid.

Within the D-Grid Project this cluster is one of 25 systems at different sites in Germany funded by an extra investment of the Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) of the Federal Republic of Germany.
