Gegenstand: Physikalische, theoretische und technische Grundlagen der Informations- und Nanotechnologie und -physik.

Innovation and progress of nowadays information technology is determined by (i) the use of novel material and material combinations and (ii) the scaling and modification of these materials down to the nanometer regime. Additional to the standard semiconductor technology, new classes of materials (ranging from novel ceramics, strained layer systems to biological systems) with partially unique properties (e.g., multiferroics, nanotubes, interface engineered systems) as well as new preparation methods are moving into the focus of today's development and research in this field. The course will provide an overview on the major aspect and problems of today's information and nanotechnology.
