VORTEX is initiated as a part of international network activities:

It is focused on the development of complex oxides thin film systems (single to multilayers as well as lateral micro- and nanostructures), their physical and electronic properties, and their application in the field of microwave and sensor applications. Special emphasis is dedicated to the nanophysics and vortex matter of theses promising candidates for basic reseach aspects and various applications:

  • complex oxides thin films: deposition - analysis - simulation
  • dielectric and ferroelectric thin film systems for variable microwave devices
  • microwave properties of oxide superconductors
  • nanostructured superconductors and vortex dynamics
  • oxide gas sensor systems

The research is embedded in the activities of the 'Centers of Nanoelectronic Systems for Information Technology (CNI)' and the THz sensor technology of the FZ Jülich. It is linked to the ESF networks 'Vortex' and 'Arrays of Quantum Dots and Josephson Junctions' (AQDJJ), the JSPS Core-to-Core Integrated Action Initiative 'Nanoscience and Engineering in Superconductivity', the European SCENT network, and the DFG project 'Vortex matter in mesoscopic superconductors'.
