Central Institute for Electronics
The Central Institute for Electronics is responsible for research and development (R&D) in the fields analog and digital electronics, measurement and controls, various detectors as well as scientific and technical informatics througout the Research Centre Jülich (FZJ). The research priorities of the institute consist of R&D in close collaboration with other institutes in order to suit the needs of the overall research programme of the FZJ. In addition, the institute acts as the centre for intranet communication, prototyping of electronic equipment and the planning and installation of technical information systems. Another importent function of the institute is teaching and training engineers and technici-ans along with the scientific education of students. During the last few years the development of neuro sciences was supported mainly in the field of PET, SPECT, MEG and MRI imaging. Other important contributions were made with the development of neutron scattering instrumentation and data acquisition systems for the accelerator COSY. Recently novel measurement techniques for environmental research have been developed. The institute focuses on research in the areas of nuclear electronics, signal- and image processing, image science and controls.
